Chef, Sous Chef, and Kid roles
See what each person can do with your household’s meals, recipes, and grocery list.
Chef
A Chef can plan meals, shop, save and edit recipes, and manage the household. Chefs send invites, change people’s roles, and choose whether each Kid can use Groceries.
Sous Chef
A Sous Chef can plan meals, shop, and save or edit recipes. Chefs and Sous Chefs can also use Remix when the household has Pro.
A Sous Chef doesn’t manage invites or change anyone’s role. A Chef handles those settings.
Kid
A Kid can explore recipes, mark favorites, and choose Want this next to suggest a meal. A Chef or Sous Chef decides what goes on the plan.
Kids can read and cook saved recipes, but can’t save, edit, or remove them. They can use the grocery list if a Chef has turned on Groceries access for them.
Kid accounts are for ages 13 and up. To invite someone as a Kid or change their role to Kid, you must be a Chef and confirm that you’re their parent or guardian, or have their permission.
Find or change someone’s role
Open Household in Settings and choose a person to see their role. Only a Chef can change it.
Everyone belongs to the same household and shares the same plan and recipes. Their role determines what they can change.
